New functions and enhancements in M! 2.0
- Automatic creation of scales for
free mouth width
With version 2.0 of M!, you can
choose to automatically create a separate scale for mouth width
already in the dialogue New stop. M! then creates the needed scale
for the mouth width and links it automatically with the scale for
the diameter. If a stop is created with a fixed ratio for mouth
width, and you enter in the spreadsheet a value in a column of
type mouth width that will not match the fixed ratio, M! asks you,
if you wish to create a separate scale for mouth width. If you
proceed, M! creates the separate scale, and links it to the
diameter scale. Nevertheless, you are be able to create and link
scales for a free mouth width manually, as it was possible with M!
1.0.
- Automatic creation of scales for
upper diameter
If you need an extra scale for a
free-variable upper diameter of a non-cylindrical stop, you can
choose that as an option in the dialogue New stop. M! then creates
the extra scale for the upper diameter and links it automatically
to the main scale.
- Automatic limitation of tone
range
You can limit the tone range of
a stop at creation time. For new stops, M! assumes the range of
the last created stop, so you only have to change the range if it
is necessary. You can also change the tone range afterwards (even
in the graphic view as in the dialogue Change stop).
- Easy entry of most used foot tone
levels
In the dialogue New stop you can
choose the most used foot tone levels (32' to 1') directly, that
means without opening an additional dialogue.
- More flexible preferences for
creation of broken scales
If you construct broken scales
with an addition constant, it is now possible to choose a special
progression at the same time (e.g. »Scale following
progression 1:2 with AC: 10mm«).
- New option Refer graphical representation to NM
If the graphical representation
of a stop result in a horizontal movement of the scale origin
(e.g. because of the entry of a free diameter in the dialogue Foot
tone level), you can force M! to calculate the corresponding
vertical movement of the graphical representation.
- Free definable columns in the
spreadsheet
Surely one of the most
comprehensive enhancements of M!: It is now possible to create
»free columns« in the spreadsheet. In free columns, you
may enter arbitrary text (e.g. comments) or values (e.g. foot
lengths). But you can even enter complex formulas in these
columns, that may also contain references to other columns (e.g.
»=2*D1+F3«, where D1 and F3 are references to values in
other columns). Using this great functionality, it is possible to
generate complex spreadsheets directly in M!, without use of third
party applications.
- New menu command Insert contents
With this menu command, you can
change calculated columns (e.g. diameter or circumference) to free
columns, containing the calculated values.
- Hiding of columns in the
spreadsheet
Columns in the spreadsheet now
can be hidden. On the one hand, columns are hidden automatically,
if the corresponding stop is hidden in the graphical view. On the
other hand, you can hide columns directly in the spreadsheet.
- New column types: Cut-up and
Thickness
In addition to the already
available column types (e.g. Ø, MW etc.), it is now also
possible to show and enter Cut-up of pipes and Thickness of the
used material. If you enter cut-ups of pipes, these values also
are considered in the calculation of the end compension (EC). If
you enter thickness, you will be able to view (and enter) several
columns (e.g. Ø, circumference and more) also as outside
sizes.
- Entry of pipe width and pipe depth
(to enter or analyse wooden stops)
In columns of type Pipe depth it is now possible to enter values.
M! automatically calculates the diameter of a corresponding
circular pipe.
- Reduce the printout of a spreadsheet
to selected columns
If you print spreadsheets, you
can now select an option, that reduces the printout to the
selected columns.
- Free thickness of scale curves in
printout
In the printout of the graphic
view, you can define the thickness of scale curves for better
readability.
- New variant for entering
temperaments
In the dialogue »Enter
temperament« there is now a second variant to enter
temperaments. Besides the known variant (Cent-values of
intervals), you can now enter values as »Deviation from equal
temperament«.
- Auto-save
You can define an interval (1 to 180 minutes), after that
documents will be auto-saved.
M! 2.0 is able to read and convert
data-files from M! 1.0.
